The island of Ko Mak is in the east of the Gulf of Thailand, 35 kilometers from the mainland, and is the third largest island in Trat Province, after Koh Chang and Koh Kut. With an area of 16 square kilometers, Ko Mak has 27 km of coastline, many long sandy beaches, and a few hills. The island is home to approximately 800 locals and renowned for its beautiful beaches, having been included in the UK's Sunday Times 10 most beautiful beaches list in 2006. Ko Mak has a temple, a primary school, three fishing villages, a market, and a health center. It is possible to walk to Ko Kham, a smaller island less than 1 km northwest of Ko Mak during low tide.

In addition to the beautiful beaches, the island's hinterland is very green with natural forest as well as coconut and rubber plantations. The majority of local people still work on the coconut and rubber farms which are the island’s main export products . Koh Mak provides a diversity in flora and fauna which can be discovered on land and under water in the near marine national park. Being a tropical island, you might have the chance so see scorpions, snakes, spiders and colorful butterflies. Unfortunately, there are jellyfish in the shallow water of Koh Mak’s coastline. Therefore most resorts installed nets in order to provide save swimming areas in the sea.

Ao Pai
Ao Pai beach having bristled up dense line coco palms, was bent by a half moon in northern part of Ao Nid bay. Once the first here have located emigrants arrived to Koh Mak. Some of them continue to live in the bay, being engaged in fishery, an agriculture and tourist business.

Ao Pai beach is present tropical paradise where for your rest will be accompanied with silence and tranquility of the surrounding nature which becomes especially beautiful in the middle of a hot season - when shore of a bay become covered by scarlet petals of falling flowers.

Ao Suan Yai
Ao Suan Yai is a long beach lining the big bay on Koh Mak’s northwest shore, directly across the island from Ao Khao Beach and its major jetty. This is one of the prettiest and most tropical-looking of this island’s beaches, with thick groves of coconut palms swaying out over the sands and casuarina trees casting shadows and dropping their needles into a fine carpet below. The sand is fine grain and runs in a long narrow strip facing shallow water. Little of the beach remains dry at high tide, while at low tide there is lots of sand but little water left in the bay. As the photos show, however, lack of sand or water do not detract from this beach’s overall tropical appeal.

The beach has lovely sunset views, with a vista that includes a view of three islands, Koh Kham, Koh Chang and Koh Pi. Nearby Koh Kham is a popular destination for kayaking, one of the few activities on Koh Mak aside from simply relaxing with a book or eating and drinking by the beach.

Ao Nid Pier
The main entrance to the beautiful little island of Koh Mak. Ao Nid Pier is a great introduction to the Koh Mak Island experience as well as it is easy to get to especially from places like Bangkok, Pattaya or Koh Kood among others. The pier offers speedboat trips to surrounding islands along with catamaran services. It is an adequate pier with enough capability to get the job done.

Ao kao
In the southwest of Koh Mak There is a beautiful beach line to relax. And is one of the beautiful sunset spots on Koh Mak. From the Ao kho you can see Koh Kood, Rayang Nai and Koh Rayang Nok clearly. The beach area is quiet, clear water, swimming well, sometimes there are rocks that are home to fish. Popular tourist come to fishing.

Ao Ban Yai
This bay has a peaceful atmosphere. Na Nok Bay and Suan Yai Bay are long, continuous bays. Due to the long stretch of beach and accommodation in many bays Hence the name of the beach according to the name of the accommodation such as Ao Ao Holiday Beach, with beautiful nature Shallow water beach landscape is good for swimming. Above the beach is a coconut grove. Can see the glittering island The island is clear. Visitors can take a long-tail boat to travel. Takes 5-10 minutes. The bay of Lazy Day Beach is adjacent to Holiday Beach. Can walk to walk along the beach. From this beach, there are roads that connect to other beaches as well.
